Nokia on Tuesday announced it is going to buy the rest of Symbian (a company which develops operating system for mobiles).
Nokia currently owns 48% share of the company, and will pay $410 million for the rest.
This deal does not come as a surprise if we look at these figures:
Nokia paid $250 million in licensing fee to Symbian last year, so it makes business sense to acquire the whole of it in $410 million.
But it is not the sole reason for takeover. Nokia was more worried that Symbian’s structure will erode its competitive position.
Currently Symbian is being challenged by number of new contender like Google’s Android platform.
To compete with Google’s Android, Symbian will also become an open source based platform.
Nokia expects the acquisition to be completed during the fourth quarter of 2008.

Apple announced this month that it will launch the new 3G iPhone this month with $199 tag. But how can it afford such a killing price? There are two reasons why Apple can charge so less for the new iphone:
- The handset service providers will subsidize the handsets by paying $300 per unit to Apple.
- The second reason is the low cost of the materials going into handset.
The most expensive component in the 3G iphone is the 8GB flash memory storage costing $22.8 . The nest one is the touch screen for 20$. The chips and other components add upto 164$. Apple is paying 9$ for the assembly of the device.
This brings down the total cost to 173$.
But these initial estimates does not include the cost of software, shipping, distribution, packaging and the cost of accessories.

Mere starting of a weblog, commonly termed as “BLOG”, is not enough.
The success of your blog entirely depends on various factors, which in turn bring more traffic and make your blog popular and successful.
Some of the important factors are:
- The readability of your blog
This is as simple and straight as it sounds. You need not show your high-level English skills in your blog.
The language should be as simple and appealing as it can be. Before writing your posts, just imagine whatever you are going to write, is for a “lower-kindergarten” kid. Simple and straight approach always wins.
An interesting tool to check the readability of your blog:

- Marketing of your blog
This is not as simple as it seems. I take for granted that most of the starting bloggers, like me don’t have money to spend on top-level SEO (search engine optimization), to gather traffic from search engines.
The best tools of a blogger to popularize his blog are pinging, submitting to article directories, quality link exchange, submission to blog search engines like Technorati.
A tool to to check the total worth of your blog:
LINK: http://www.business-opportunities.biz/projects/how-much-is-your-blog-worth/
WTF:  The tool to check the worth of your blog is entirely based on tagging and the activity record of your blog on Technorati, so if you try to check the worth of even Google , the result would be 0$ !!

Windows PC can be transformed into Mac (visually), without going into hassle of installing many visual themes, windowblinds, docklets….and the list goes on……
The solution is a simple all-in-one installer FlyakiteOSX.
“FlyakiteOSX is a transformation pack. It will transform the look of an ordinary Windows XP+ system to resemble the look of Mac OS X. The installer simply automates the process of replacing critical system files, setting registry tweaks, and installing extras such as cursors, sounds, visual styles, etc. FlyakiteOSX DOES NOT contain any spyware or ad-ware of any kind. All files needed for FlyakiteOSX are stored in the Windows directory in a folder named ‘FlyakiteOSX’ that is hidden by default. All registry values for FlyakiteOSX are written to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\FlyakiteOSX.”
All the documentation and FAQ’s about installer can be found at:
http://www.flyakiteosx.com/

The installer is very simple, the whole visual system is light on the CPU, and is completely safe to install and remove.
